The Blackhawk Blacktail is a limited-run version of my Blackhawk Hatchet, distinguished by its signature black-painted handle and Blacktail feather marking on the crate.
Each head is hand forged from 1900 train rail and stamped with the rail date, my maker’s mark, and an individual serial number. It is hung on a 19" hickory handle with a black walnut wedge and finished with a custom pigmented oil blend that brings out the grain and gives the handle a timeless look and feel.
Each Blacktail also includes a handmade veg-tan leather sheath and a custom wooden crate, both made and finished by me to complete the package.
This is a fully functional, razor-sharp hatchet, but it was created to be more than just a tool. My hope is that each Hatchet becomes a meaningful piece to own, use, and eventually pass down.
